She is someone who is not typically beautiful. Her body is plump, she has wide hips, breasts and a tummy that shows. Her eyes are green and show her defiant spirit and her craving for more independence. She longs to break free of her limitations and her sheltered life as a Princess.

Aurora also has a birthmark on her neck, a brown misshapen spot on the back, below her hair that no one can see. She wears a diamond ring that her parents gave to her when she turned sixteen. She only wears it for court appearances and festivals. She does not like diamonds and precious stones very much.

Aurora was raised with an emphasis on her talents, music being one of them. As a girl of seven, she liked playing the lute and had lessons for that. But as she turned eleven, she enjoyed her flute lessons more. One summer, she announced that she wanted to play just the flute. So from that day onwards she practiced her flute often and learned several tunes on it, some fast some slow. A former Princess in Thigacia was the only other royal lady who liked playing the flute best over other instruments.

Princess Aurora's love for music remains well-known in Caelisia. People also know of her fiery temperament, with a rebellious touch beneath her. This engrossing character is the centre of our tale.

King Lorien who rules the Kingdom of Caelisia has blonde locks with some streaks of grey. He also has a moustache and a short beard. He is tall, height that befits his great reputation as a King.

He is noble at heart and an idealist in his values. He is benevolent and a loving husband to his Queen and a loving father to Princesss Aurora. He rules the land for his people. As a King, he always puts his people's well-being first, a trait that makes his subjects revere him.

He is a believer of God and very superstitious. He believes in astrology, numerology, karma and the power of prayer. Under his rule, Caelisia has grown in prosperity and he is called the land's greatest King. He is a philosophical person and reads a little philosophy too to enrich his knowledge on how to rule.

He encourages musicians, actors, poets, singers, painters and others in his court. Speaking of his court, there are some intriguing tales about courtiers there, a tale for another time.

Carmina is the wife of King Lorien and the mother of Princess Aurora. She possesses flowing red hair, a fierce spirit and elegant mannerisms. She is admired by many for her intelligence and her ability to advise King Lorien on many political matters. Carmina is well-informed regarding all the events that take place in the King's court and enjoys playing an involved part as Queen of the Kingdom of Caelisia.

Carmina can be a strict mother to Aurora at times, but she also has a deeply loving nature towards her daughter. She is far ahead of her time as a woman and wants her daughter to be the same way.

Carmina came to Caelisia as a young lady, after being wed at a young age to Lorien for political reasons. She came from a Kingdom called Winurvia, one that no longer exists. The Kingdom of Winurvia became a part of Thigacia later on.

As a child, Carmina loved playing on the beach in her homeland, enjoying splashing about in the blue sea. She also enjoyed learning the harp, flute and learning to sing. Her brother was five years older than she was and they enjoyed playing games in their castle together, often pretending to be knights fighting five-headed snakes and dragons together. She was also close to her cousin Parisia who was her best friend as a child. Carmina was once betrothed to a royal cousin named Direvin, but once she was twelve her parents decided to marry her to Lorien of Caelisia himself, in order to gain a stronger political ally for Winurvia in Caelisia. As a child, Carmina lost her younger brother to the plague. He was frail in health and his body was not strong since he did not play outdoors enough. Thus Carmina encouraged her daughter Aurora to ride horses often and practice with her sword as a young girl, so that her body stayed strong and healthy.

Since her younger years, Carmina has grown into a formidable and shrewd Queen. She cares deeply for the rights of all women in her land, particularly widows. She dreams of all women being literate like she is. She insisted that Aurora learn how to read despite most women in Caelisia and other lands being illiterate. She is against slavery and treats her handmaidens in the castle with great respect.

Carmina plays a significant role in encouraging artists at Lorien's court- musicians, painters, poets, dancers, theatre troupes and singers. Her favourite poet was a deaf poet called Livarin. That man was a very poor man from the village of Didacusia who impressed Carmina with his many moving poems on Caelisia and on various aspects of nature. She ensured that he was given enough gold to buy a small cottage in his village and also ensured that he became a Lord. In similar ways, Carmina encouraged many musicians and dancers whom she called on to perform at court, rewarding them well and praising them for good performances often. Artists always rever Queen Carmina as a true patron of the arts.

This is a land in the Eastern part of the world. The Eastern part of the world remains shrouded in mystery. It has lands with hostile creatures who do not like to mix with humans from the Western part of the world.

Lictinia is one such faraway land. It is inhabited by creatures who have the faces of bears, creatures that speak in their own language that others do not comprehend. They do have a leader of their race and do respect him when it comes to matters in their land. The main diet of Lictinians consist of natural plants found in their land and several fruits too as well as fish in their waters. They need to eat just once a day and remain strong with just little food.

Lictinians do not like humans entering their world for a number of reasons. One story goes that over a century earlier, a King Trijon from Garhardin entered Lictinia and did awful things there in his greed. He robbed the Lictinians of many of their precious stones, leaving many penniless. Hundreds of Lictinians were slain by his army. He also enslaved many Lictinians to serve his people in the other world. Many of the enslaved Lictinians died in awful conditions.

The same King also went to another land in the Eastern world called Isoud and forced a war between Isoud and Lictinia. This bloody history remains a barrier between Lictinians and the Western World. Lictinians dislike such bloody stories having been forced into their history, because of others' villainy.

Lictinians live their own life and dislike interference from outsiders.
